Summary
The Scheduling Maturity Model was developed by a sub-group
of the APM Planning, Monitoring and Control (PMC) SIG. The Scheduling Maturity Model is intended to be applicable
to schedules and scheduling processes for projects of all
sizes in all industry sectors. It may be used in conjunction
with the APM’s Earned Value Compass [1] on which it is
based and with which it shares a common goal: the use of the
model as a decision support tool. The model should be scaled
and tailored to the project concerned. For example, small
scale projects may not need large amounts of schedule detail
or risk analysis, so high-level schedules (e.g. “level
1” or “level 2”) may be sufficient. Larger
and more complex projects are likely to require lower-level
      scheduling (e.g. levels 3, 4 or 5).
