First came the spoors, falling from the heavens and planting giant green vines that slowly take over, smothering all life they come into contact with. For a small band of farmers in Northern Minnesota, it seems like a biblical plague - a curse from the heavens sent to destroy mankind.

But when the robotic destroyers follow, it is clearly the result of a horrific extraterrestrial visitation.

Buddy Anderson returns to his hometown of Tassel, Minnesota to join his father, erstwhile mayor, and messianic preacher in his attempts to save the remaining residents of this small town, and perhaps on the whole earth. As the plants encroach on humanity and crush out its means of sustenance, people struggle to maintain some humanity amidst catastrophic circumstances. Can they continue to survive in the face of such daunting odds or are they destined to play out the last act of the drama of humanity?
