Summary
A Quantum Gravity Novella The human world got split up into eight loosely connected
realities when something went awry in a supercollider. This
accident created a new universe of split realities. The split
affected not only the present but the past, so that it seemed
these dimensions, or alternate worlds, had always existed
alongside our own, with connections that were sometimes so
porous it was possible to cross between. Among these worlds
were: Otopia — the human Earth; Alfheim — a world
of not-really-elves; Daemonia — a world of
not-really-demons; Faery — home of the Fae; Zoomenon
— a place of elements. Other worlds are partially or
completely non-material, and fatal to 3-D life. Quantum Gravity is the story of Lila Black, a human, who
is swept up into the long-standing power struggles between
populated humanoid worlds. She becomes the first
human-machine hybrid lifeform (though not the last). But this story is about Sorcha Ahriman, a demon,
and successful singer of pop songs, who has only a small, if
significant, part in that earlier tale, including her heroic
demise.
